RGN Trailer

SIGMA's RGN trailer separates at the gooseneck so tracked equipment drives straight onto the deck instead of being winched up a ramp, cutting loading time on excavators, dozers and wheel loaders that can't easily climb an incline.

Overview

The removable gooseneck trailer design pins and unpins the front section from the main deck, letting the whole rig kneel to ground level for drive-on loading rather than climbing a ramp angle. SIGMA's detachable gooseneck trailer uses a hydraulic or mechanical locking pin system rated for the full gross combination weight, so the connection holds under braking and cornering loads just as securely as a fixed frame. Fold-down rgn ramps at the rear handle wheeled equipment that doesn't need the front detached, giving operators two loading methods on one trailer depending on what's being hauled that day.

Features

  • Detachable gooseneck for ground-level drive-on loading
  • Hydraulic or mechanical pin-lock system rated for full GCW
  • Fold-down rear ramps for wheeled machinery
  • Reinforced box-beam deck for concentrated equipment loads
  • Air or mechanical suspension depending on route conditions
  • Winch mounting points for non-running equipment
  • Deck width and length configurable for regional load limits

Applications

  • Excavator and crawler equipment transport
  • Wheel loader and grader hauling
  • Construction equipment rental fleets
  • Oilfield equipment transport
  • Mining machinery relocation
  • Equipment rental and leasing operations

How the Gooseneck Detaches

An RGN trailer solves a problem the fixed-deck lowbed trailer can't: getting tracked equipment onto the deck without a ramp angle steep enough to high-center the machine. SIGMA's design releases the gooseneck section from the main frame using hydraulic or mechanical locking pins, letting the whole front end swing away and the deck settle flat on the ground. The excavator or dozer then drives straight on under its own power, the neck reconnects, and the pins re-engage before the load is chained down.

Removable and Detachable Gooseneck Differences

Buyers searching for a removable gooseneck trailer for sale and a detachable gooseneck trailer are usually looking at the same equipment - the terms describe the same mechanism, just named differently by region. What varies between suppliers is the locking method: some use a simple mechanical pin that needs a crew member to align and drop by hand, others run hydraulic cylinders that release and re-engage from inside the cab. SIGMA builds both versions, with the hydraulic option costing more but cutting connection time to under two minutes per hookup.

Ramps and Loading in the Field

Not every load needs the neck detached - wheeled equipment, generators on skids, or cargo that's already on a pallet often goes on faster over the fold-down rgn ramps at the rear instead. SIGMA fits both loading methods on the same trailer so crews aren't stuck picking one approach before the job starts. Ramp angle stays under load-rating limits for wheeled machinery up to the trailer's full payload, and the ramps fold flat against the frame when running empty or hauling non-equipment freight.

Buying or Renting an RGN

Whether the plan is an rgn trailer for sale purchase or an rgn trailer for rent arrangement through a leasing partner, the spec questions are the same: rated payload, deck length, and whether the equipment being hauled needs the full neck detached or just rear ramps. SIGMA's rgn gooseneck trailer line covers 35 to 60 ton payload brackets, which fits most excavators, wheel loaders and compact cranes without stepping up to a full multi-axle heavy-haul unit like a dedicated lowbed trailer.
